Help Greyhounds and other sighthounds from around the world find loving homes
Every day, dogs around the world wait in shelters for families who will never come. Some languish for years; others are euthanized, killed for taking up space. None are living the lives they deserve.
Fast Friends believes that every dog deserves a warm bed, good food, and loving home. We work with rescue partners around the world to give retired racing Greyhounds and sighthounds who have been abandoned to bring these precious souls to the US and match them with families who will care for and cherish them.
WHO WILL YOUR GIFT HELP?
- Portuguese Podengos: Used for hunting, these sighthounds are often treated roughly, with little care to their physical comfort or emotional needs. These sensitive, intelligent dogs are kept caged or chained, and brutally killed or dumped in the countryside when no longer considered useful.
- Spanish Galgos and Podencos: Rabbit-hunting is still popular in rural areas, and Galgos and Podencos are the sighthounds of choice for this “sport.” Overbred and undervalued, any dog not successful enough is killed, often cruelly. The lucky ones are turned loose on the street or in the fields to fend for themselves.
- Irish Retired Racing Greyhounds: Once they leave the track, ex-racers in Ireland and the UK struggle to find homes. An overwhelming number of Greyhounds retire from racing each year and rescue groups are overwhelmed, with waiting lists of Greyhounds needing a place to go.
- and so many, many more. All of these dogs make wonderful companions, and working together, we can give them a second chance at the life they should have had all along. Please be part of this life-saving mission and donate today.
