A “sighthound” is a type of dog that hunts by its keen eyesight and fast speed. They are typically characterized by long legs and an overall aerodynamic shape. Greyhounds are sighthounds, as are borzoi, whippets, Pharaoh hounds, and many others. You could say that sighthounds are the larger family to which Greyhounds belong.
