give to change a dog's life
Can you imagine being a Greyhound during their first holiday in a real home? Delicious smells come wafting, happy music plays, and new toys appear like magic. Love radiates from the smiles and gentle greetings you get from everyone who comes to visit. You are with your family, your very own heaven on earth.
The love and joy you give in return is endless! You’ve perfected the “Greyhound hug” and soft nudges when you want special attention. Your eyes shine with love, and you are so happy you can’t help but do a silly zoomie around the room.
As the holidays approach, we make special memories with our own dogs and remember those from years past. Please also keep a place in your heart for the dogs who don’t have homes, the ones who will spend their holidays alone, those who wait to love and be loved by a family of their own.
At Fast Friends, we treat the adoptable dogs like they were our own. We celebrate the holidays with extra treats and new toys — nothing is as joyous as 40 Greyhounds squeaking new toys all at once! Our growing volunteer program gives them more opportunities to socialize and they can explore the decorated lobby. Some will even be brave enough to meet Santa and have a photo for their family when they are adopted.
But no matter how hard we try, a kennel is not a home. And so many Greyhounds haven’t even made it this far. Our partner in Australia takes in Greyhounds that have been abandoned as well as the retired racers. They tell us about rushing to get to shelters hours away to rescue healthy Greyhounds before their time is up.
Shelters in Australia, Ireland, and all around the world are full to capacity. Greyhounds wait for a space to open up, then wait some more for a family to choose them. Sighthounds in other countries, like the Spanish Galgos and Portuguese Podengos, face the very real possibility of being killed if they cannot find rescue space in time.
No dog should be alone on the holidays, or any other day.
Here at Fast Friends, we have adopters waiting to open their hearts and homes to a Greyhound or sighthound. Please make a gift so we can continue to bring these dogs from around the world to Fast Friends and find them the loving homes they deserve.

Sydney is home for the holidays, thanks to you!
Missie was at Fast Friends for longer than most, but we never gave up and neither did you! She’s spending her first holiday in a home of her own.
